Haven Plaza, the four-building, 371-unit affordable residential facility at 200 Avenue C, located in the East Village, will get a two-story, 3,120-square-foot building that aims to house the complex’s critical infrastructure components. Now under construction at 212 Avenue C, on the corner of East 13th Street, the structure will feature three boilers, electrical meters, hot water pumps and heaters, and emergency fuel storage.
The building would allow Haven Plaza to operate in the event of a natural disaster. The facility was nonfunctioning due to power outages during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The residential towers will also get their own environmentally-minded infrastructure upgrades, DNAinfo reported.
