Essex County, N.J.-based property owner J&L Parking Corporation has proposed a 12-story, 384-unit mixed-use building at 28 McWhorter Street, located on the corner of Hamilton Street in Newark’s Ironbound district. The project would encompass 506,656 square feet and contain commercial-retail space on the ground floor, Jersey Digs reported. The project would require multiple variances for increased lot coverage, reduced building setbacks, and increased height. The city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment must approve the variances. The 1.25-acre property is currently vacant.
