Construction is well underway on two affordable residential buildings under development at 2550 Third Avenue and 275 East 138th Street, both located on the same block in the South Bronx’s Mott Haven section. 2550 Third Avenue recently topped out at 11 stories, while 275 East 138th Street will rise to a height of eight stories. Progress on the project, dubbed Tres Puentes, can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums.
The taller of the two buildings measures 110,682 square feet and will contain 119 residential units that will all exclusively rent at below-market rates to seniors. There will also be 5,919 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.
The other building, at 275 East 138th Street, measures 52,345 square feet and will contain 56 residential units. All of the apartments here will also rent to seniors at below-market rates. The ground floor will feature 3,373 square feet of medical office space.
Apartments across both buildings should average 832 square feet apiece. West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing is the developer and Redtop Architects is responsible for the architecture. Completion is expected by the end of the year.
