The 10-story, 55,000-square-foot former Salvation Army shelter at 225 Bowery, on the Lower East Side, is now shrouded in construction netting ahead if its planned conversion into a 14-story, 200-key Ace Hotel. The progress on the project can be seen thanks to a Bowery Boogie report. The latest building permits indicate the expanded building will rise 170 feet above street level.
The 70,000-square-foot micro hotel will feature a 130-seat restaurant, ground-floor courtyard, rooftop bar, and fitness center. Omnia Group and North Wind Group are the developers. HAKS is responsible for the architecture. Completion can be expected in spring 2018.
