The New York City Economic Development Corporation has selected a development team to build a 234-unit mixed-use tower at 495 Eleventh Avenue, located between West 39th and 40th streets in Hell’s Kitchen. Radson Development and Kingspoint Heights Development are the developers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The project would include 234 residential units, all of which would be designated as affordable and rent at below-market rates. The nearly 500-foot-tall tower would also include 200,000 square feet of office space, 80,000 square feet of student dormitories, a 12,000-square-foot supermarket, and a New York City Police Department parking facility.
The project must be approved through the city’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP), as the site, currently vacant, must be rezoned. The area is represented in the City Council by Corey Johnson. Groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2019, followed by completion in 2022.
