A shining piece of Jersey City waterfront real estate is only months away from opening its doors. Ellipse, at 1-25 14th Street in the city’s Newport section, is nearly complete. Construction progress can be seen in the above photo from YIMBY Forums user JC_Heights, taken on Tuesday.
LeFrak is the developer and Arquitectonica is the architect. The 41-story building is slated to have 381 rental apartments. Studios will start at 507 square feet, one-bedrooms will range from 742 to 838 square feet, two-bedrooms will range from 1,128 to 1,207 square feet, and three-bedrooms will span 1,537 square feet. The five penthouse units will include three-bedrooms ranging from 1,603 square feet to 1,975 square feet and four-bedrooms ranging from 2,024 square feet to 2,300 square feet.
There will be 24,000 square feet of amenity space, featuring a 24-hour doorman, a co-working space for those who work from home, a multipurpose lounge and game room, a gym, a children’s playroom, and an outdoor pool and terrace with a barbecue area and fire pit. The pool is above the residents-only parking garage.
Nearby is Newport Green, a 4.25-acre park that features the only urban beach on the Hudson River, as well as a 17,000-square-foot playground and a 30,000-square-foot turf field. Also nearby are several shopping centers, including the Newport Centre Mall, Target, Best Buy, ShopRite, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
The Newport PATH station is about a 10-minute walk, and the Newport Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station is just beyond that. The Hoboken station, with access to NJ Transit trains and buses, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, PATH trains, and the NY Waterway ferry is 10 minutes north on the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway.
Leasing began earlier this week and residents are expected to move in this summer.
