Construction is slated to begin in May on the redevelopment planned for the four-story, 65,000-square-foot warehouse at 520 West 20th Street, in West Chelsea. The plans, which date to 2015, would expand the structure by three stories and convert much of the building to office space. The latest permits indicate the expanded structure will rise 105 feet to its roof and contain 79,778 square feet of commercial space.
The project, dubbed The Warehouse, will include 18,000 square feet of outdoor space, Commercial Observer reported. There will also be retail space on the ground floor. The existing space is currently used as a private parking garage facility with art galleries on the ground floor. Elijah Equities is the developer and Morris Adjmi Architects is the architect. Completion is expected in early 2019.
