In late February, developers broke ground on the 14-story, 126-unit residential building planned at 111 East 172nd Street, located in the South Bronx’s Mount Eden section. The latest building permits indicate the new structure will encompass 116,897 square feet and rise 137 feet to its roof.
The residential units should average 848 square feet apiece. All of the units will be designated as affordable, the Bronx Times reported, although 60 will be set aside for people with mental health conditions. The remaining 66 units will rent at below-market rates through the housing lottery. The nonprofit Community Access is the developer and Peter L. Woll’s Brooklyn-based firm is the architect of record. Completion is expected in 2018.
